Numbers are a fundamental part of learning, and they’re also great for helping kids practice their fine motor skills. That’s why I’ve gathered together a list of 6 fun ways to learn all about number 3. From number hunts to pattern recognition, these activities are sure to keep your kids busy for some quality time together.

Looking for a fun way to teach your kids about numbers? Try using number hunts! This is a great way to get your kids excited about numbers while fostering their curiosity and imagination. To create a number hunt, choose an object that has a number associated with it. For example, if your child likes trucks, try finding other trucks in the house and counting along with them. You could also use this activity to teach your kids about addition and subtraction.

Kids this age enjoy learning by doing, so if you have a garden, you could use it as your hunting ground. Hide objects all around the yard, and let your child find them. For example, if there are three trucks in the lawn, have your child find them and count them. Once they know how many there are, have them hide one of the trucks, so they have to seek out another one, and so on. This activity will help your child improve their fine motor skills while having fun, and it gives them something to think about while they’re doing it.

If your child is two years old or younger, they may have a hard time understanding that 20 is a different number than 10. To help them learn the concept of numbers, have them count along with you. Start by saying “ten,” and then when they say “ten,” say “one.” Your two-year-old will have a lot of fun learning this way, and they’ll gain a valuable understanding of numbers. It’s also a great way to bond with your preschooler.

If your three-year-old is still a little young for this, you could try some simple addition and subtraction games. For example, count out loud until your three-year-old says “one.” Then say “two,” and so on.

If you have a sandbox, your kids will love this! Simply draw the number 3 in the sand with your kids’ fingers. This is a great way to work on their fine motor skills while having fun. You could also have your kids draw the number using a twig, a leaf, or another object they may find in the sand.

If your kids are old enough to use a crayon or colored pencil, you could let them use that, too. Crayons are great for drawing the number 3 because they don’t use up a ton of paper. Plus, if you use them the right way, you can create some pretty neat number patterns!

If your kids love numbers, they’ll love this! Print out a number coloring page that has the number 3 on it, and let your child sit down with a pencil and paper to color it in. You could do this with any number they love, of course, but the number 3 is a fun one!

If your child is old enough to use scissors, this is a great way to have them cut out the number three. You could make a stencil out of cardboard, or you could use a piece of paper. Cut out the number 3 and have your child seek out 3 objects around the house. For example, if there are 2 apples in the fruit bowl, have them seek out one more for a total of 3. This is a great activity for outside, and it’ll get your kids moving and thinking.

If your kids love puzzles, this one is for you! Make a matching activity by matching the number 3 with pictures of groups of objects in 3s. You could use this as a fun way to introduce your kids to the idea of different words having different meanings.
